Who am I to speak of Love?
Every word I have ever said
Was untrue;
Whatever I thought,
Was wrong.
Each time I make a shape for it,
The shape is wrong;
Always too small, or too wide.
Incomplete,
Or too complete.
Love resists the corale of reasoning,
Infinitely Wild,
Endlessly Free.

Everything I have ever held of it
Was a handful of dust.
To say, “I love you…”

Also The Mortals Ran

The heroes and their golden arcs
of triumph and laughter
cannot come in here.
Their shoulders are too wide;
their embarassment of riches
too substantial;
their epic songs too loud
to be heard here.
Welcome to the underworld;
the heroes are not invited,
nor possible,
nor heroic.
Here, there are only
the wounded,
the unwise
and the unwieldy.

Those who have been crushed,
been broken by tasks too great,
who failed themselves

Love’s Fury

I will chase your ghost through the garden,
Through all the gardens,
Through scenery that collapses and assembles
In an endless variety of illusions.
I will hound your deathly footsteps;
I will be the one constantly laying
Primroses,
Snowdrops,
Cowslips under your feet.

You want to haunt the kingdom of the Dead;

The Gods are among us now;
Mystery of mysteries -
When we awaken into fearlessness,
Follow love’s instruction
And renounce the triumph of death,
The Gods rejoice;
“Look,” they say.
“You are one of us;
“Another divinity has been born.”

Teasing your limitations,
Searing your heart,
When you turned away from love;
Reminding you,
In dream,
In joy,
